JAZZ88's REEL JAZZ Film Series is back with a great Winter/Spring lineup of independent jazz films screening at the Trylon microcinema, 3258 Minnehaha Avenue S. in Minneapolis! The series will screen on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The REEL JAZZ Film Series celebrates the rarely experienced world of independent jazz films.

A native of England, McPartland arrived in America in 1948 with her husband Jimmy McPartland and established herself as a leading musician in the male dominated jazz world. Now 93, McPartland tells her own story through interviews filmed over 4 years.

Mose has been a major influence on musicians for the last 50 years. His singular style, a unique blending of jazz and blues, and his profound musical wit, mark his as a true American original. Among those singing his praises here are Pete Townsend, Van Morrisson, Loudon Wainwright, Elvis Costello, Bonnie Raitt and the late lamented Joel Dorn.

(90m) Local film historian-preservationist Bob DeFlores, who has been collecting and restoring films since 1953, will once again host a very special evening of REEL JAZZ films from his personal collection. This evening, Bob will screen Louis Armstrong's Trip to Europe. Film cameras follow Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong and His All Stars during the final stages of a triumphant European tour in the autumn of 1955. Edward R. Murrow narrates the film.
